My love for Moelogo started when I first heard The 15th by Wretch32 & Avelino which featured Moelogo and Sneakbo. Funny enough, my friend was vibing to this song on a snapchat story of his and Moelogo was crooning the chorus and I was just like what is this beautiful song? I need it in my life and hurriedly asked my friend for the name and that’s it people, the story of how I fell in love with Moelogo’s voice.
Fast forward to the ending of last year, and I randomly come across “Rora Se” which is by Adekunle Gold and features Moelogo. I didn’t hesitate, I went on a Moelogo listening spree, looking for and listening to all the songs he has sung and is featured on, and with each song I heard, the more and more I fell for his voice and now he is one of my top favourite music artists. I love introducing, blessing people’s ears and enriching their bodies with the vibes the talented and amazing vocalist that is Mohammed Animashaun creates.
But it doesn’t end there, he is humble and has a pure soul. He has a lot of motivational words, he is always quick to share and he is so funny, makes me laugh a lot—I swear he is my favourite person on twitter.
I was extremely happy when I found out he is Nigerian (UK Based) and his Yoruba is 😍 (to die for) I love listening to him speaking or singing Yoruba. But don’t classify his music as Afro and the likes, it’s Worldwide and Good Music, stay woke.
So while I’ve been planning to write this article about his music since I’m so in love with his voice, I also had the crazy cravings to interview him and so I reached out and he was so accommodating (p.s. I love him).
So I started off with requesting for his time and hoping he could answer a few questions for me for this post and although he was about to go record more music, he decided to take the time out to answer my questions and we went into a back and forth rapport with me asking and him being forthcoming with his answers.
Q: Growing up was this the future you envisioned for yourself?
Growing tbh (to be honest) with you, I didn’t have a vision until I was let’s say 18. Because I didn’t care about anything, I was just living life trying to fit in with others and trying to do this gangsta life. But thank GOD, after a short time I realised it wasn’t for me and I shouldn’t be part of it. So yeah, I realised I had a vision at the age of 18 because I found my talent but didn’t know how far it would take me, but I know I’ll be massive and someone of importance.
Q: What was the reaction of people close to you when you decided to make a career out of music?
The reaction from my mother gave me the green light. She was happy I wanted to quit misbehaving and focus on something great—a purpose. Some friends gave me that negative feel but it didn’t matter because my mum was there to support and that’s all I needed.
Q: How did it and does it feel to have so many people loving and appreciating your sound?
It’s an amazing feeling and wouldn’t be possible if GOD didn’t bless it so I owe it all to him.
Q: Do you play any musical instrument?
Unfortunately, I don’t, but I’m very good at creative
production because I hear sounds and I know what should be in a production.
Q: So does that mean you create beats?
I can if I really need to but I just can’t play.
Q: Does performing come easily to you, or do you get nervous and how do you overcome it before you perform?
Performing is the love of my life, especially with a live band—I love it, I love it, I love—best time to express my talent and who I am.
So it definitely comes naturally to you?
Yup, it’s natural—very natural.
Q: What’s the most mind-blowing thing that has occurred to you involving a fan?
I can’t really pick because there’s so much 🙏🏿.
Q: Do you have siblings? If yes where do you fall in?
Yes, I have siblings—two younger brothers, I am the eldest.
Q: How do you balance music with your other obligations?
I don’t because music is my obligation. So it has all my full attention. But I always have time for GOD. Without GOD I wouldn’t be where I am.
Q: How do you come back from an L?
What’s an L never received such and don’t think I will GOD willing.
Q: What advice can you give people who are just beginning to pave the way to their dreams?
The advice I will give is to know GOD and stay with GOD and try your possible best to be yourself at all times, respect your mother and always have HOPE.
Q: And my final question is when are we getting more music and what are we to expect?
More music is coming real soon. Enjoy the ones that are out
- Moelogo – Shine Your Light
- Moelogo – Sometimes I Pray
- Adekunle x Moelogo – Only girl
- Moelogo – Ireti
Just type Moelogo.
There are many songs currently circulating the music industry which he is featured on and everyone needs to listen to, don’t sleep on an artist that deserves all the recognition. Also I’m very excited about the fact that “Only Girl” video Is being released very soon.
p.s. any song you hear “Logo” or “yee-e-ee “on the intro, just know he’s going to make the song 100x better.
